There are currently 9 Districts involved in the High-Ability Student Initiative Program. The program began in 2008 in Washington School District under the direction of Amy Salyer. During the Fall of 2010, the program was moved to Granite School District and is currently directed by a team (see below) knowledgeable regarding best practice for high ability students.

The teachers involved in the program agree to complete the Gifted and Talented Endorsement program offered through Utah State University, receive coaching from an experienced G/T Endorsed teacher familiar with the strategies appropriate for high ability students, and also participate in the various evaluation components of the program.
