Summer programs at universities, academies and institutes offer many varied camps and classes to extend learning beyond the school curriculum. Listed below are some programs that offer fun and challenging things to do and learn.
Classes held on the University of Utah campus for one or two week that study one topic in-depth.
Westminster College in Salt Lake City, Utah offers a variety of summer academic and athletic youth camps for elementary, middle school and high school students.
The Center for the Education and Study of the Gifted, Talented, Creative Learners at the University of Northern Colorado offers summer programs for children and youth that are gifted, talented or creative learners.
For exceptionally gifted 13 to 18 year old students at the University of Nevada, Reno. Earn up to 6 college credits.

The camps for children in grades two through four are day programs only. Those for kids in grades five through seven are both day and residential, and those for all other grades are residential. Camps are located in the Baltimore-Washington area and in Los Angeles and Pasadena, CA.
Northwestern Center for Talent Development – classes for PreK – Grade 12 at Northwestern University in Illinois.
Each summer approximately 650 youth from around the nation and world, representing some 22 states and 5 different countries, attend one of their summer programs at Duke University in Durham, NC.
A summer arts camp for artists, writers, musicians, dancers, or actors held in Interlochen, Michigan.
Science camps for students from age 4 through Grade 12 in Berkeley, CA.
A Super Summer program with hands-on activities devoted to a central theme at Purdue University in West Lafayette, Indiana.
Summer Study Programs provides students completing 9th, 10th or 11th grade the opportunity to take college-credit courses, enrichment classes, the Kaplan SAT prep course and intensive sports clinics at four world-famous locations. For 9th – 12th graders.
